UK Original Model in Desert Camo

Here's my latest acquisition. Didn't know I wanted it until I called and found they had one in stock in my size. (I believe this fabric has been discontinued.)

I wore it all weekend, including to my kid's soccer games, local events, and to Pier 39, the big tourist shopping venue in San Francisco. I am really finding that the self consciousness is starting fade, and that once people who know you have seen you once in a kilt, they are no longer surprised to see you a second time.

Got a few positive comments: at the local events one teenage girl said that her father wears kilts all the time, and one person asked if it was an "army kilt" and wanted to find out where to get one for a friend. At Pier 39 a sales person commented that he hadn't seen a kilt since Burning Man, and we chatted a bit about that. I heard one person identify it as a UK to his friend, but generally I felt anonymous among the crowds of tourists, which was fine by me.

I am still waiting for UK to get Workmans back in stock in my size, and then I'll have enough UKs (4) to keep me happy for awhile.

    Best regards,

    Jake

    great pic.

what kind of boots are those? My Oakley boots suck, and I need black boots that are actually well made.

Monkey, very nice camo kilt. How great was it that they had your size and you only had the shipping time jones to deal with.

Try a military surplus/supply store. If you don't like the actual military boots they usually have stuff like Hi-Tec for security services. I got a pair of used black leather Army boots in great condition, great quality for about $9 that fit really well.

I think the tree behind you has pretty much max'ed out the hole in the deck.

That is one of the nicer looking camos.BTW.

    What a great score!

You might try the Black and Decker Gizmo steamer deal to tame those curly pleats. I've had good luck with UK pleats by attaching weighted clips to the pleats while they hang dry.

Blue, Good eye. We do need to do something about the deck.

Ron, I suspect this one is definitely prone to pleat curl. The fabric is lighter than my other UK's and wrinkles more too. We'll see after the first wash, but I may just have to take a live-and-let-curl attitude towards it.

    Best regards,

    Jake
