Well, it's a start!

Your's truly is now Australia's very first member of New World Celts!

I have decided to give my support becasue they seem to have the same aims as myself, that is, to promote celtic culture in the New World, that includes here.

So, for a weekend celtic festival I made a couple of signs and put a small display together.

Small beginnings, let's see if it leads anywhere.

Graham,

It is a great start.
With your drive and abilities, you will transform those "acorns" into some "MIGHTY" Oaks!
I have no doubt

I wish you luck with the endeavor, Graham. I was seriously thinking of joining myself, but after talking to the local chapter president, I decided not to. My wife and I both perceived the group as one that mainly likes to gather and drink, and we are just not into that. They speak of promoting Celtic culture, but they couldn't give me any examples of just that, except for donating $200.00 to the local pipe band. We thought that promoting the culture would be going to schools and speaking to students, etc.

I'm toying with the idea of starting a similar organization in NC once we move up there in May. I would focus more on education than drinking.

Well done Graham, where do I find out more information on what they stand for?

Was there a good attendance in Georgetown and did you get much interest?

Cheers

Rob

Excellent stuff, Graham. Every little helps, eh?

I don't think there's much hope of anything like that getting started back here in 'Blighty'. The few Caledonian Societies that exist hereabouts seem to be peopled by dour, straightfaced, humourless souls who think they are the catswhiskers when the 'Gay Gordons' or an 'Eightsome Reel' is announced at a dance. Unfortunately, about 9 out of 10 of them have not the faintest idea when it comes to it!!

Anyway, Good Luck with your endeavours out there in the Colonies!
