What is wrong with this picture?

I just acquired this jacket and waistcoat combination from another member here in the 'For Sale' forum. I really like the look of the jacket and it is nice and light which is great here in Florida. It appears to be one of the lot that Paul had sold here on the forums some time ago. Anyway, I present to the rabble an image of myself in the set. What am I doing wrong and what needs to be improved? I have thick skin, so don't be afraid to pick the outfit apart. Thanks in advance! Oh, I know I have a really cheesy grin in this photo, unfortunately that can not be helped ;)

Although not a fan of solid colour kilts, the overall look is fine; that said the sleeves are about an inch too short. You really only need to show about 1/4 inch of cuff. And, unless you are an undertaker, you might want to try something other than a black neck tie. The big plus are the yellow garters-- they rock!

I'm taking the jacket to a friend tomorrow to get as much length as she can out of the sleeves. I absolutely need more solid colour ties. Thanks!

Overall, it looks good. Personally, I would wear a tartan kilt with it, as the black kilt with the charcoal jacket and waistcoat seems to be too close in hues but not close enough to really go together. Plus, it would help balance out the nice colors below your knees!

I would say that that kilt with the jacket and waistcoat is not my favourite but, appreciating that buying another kilt to go with the jacket may be a little expensive (and ironic if you've bought the jacket to go with the kilt), to bring some life to this ensemble, I might try a tartan tie or perhaps one that's striped, maybe blue with yellow stripes.

I would say that everything above the knee is spot on (except the sleeve length--that needs to been a 1/2 inch longer). The hose and garters, in my opinion, are a bit too bright for that outfit. Something more subdued might work better with that jacket and waistcoat.

Also, have you thought about a light blue shirt instead of white?

Nothing what-so-ever. Hitch up the shirt sleeves so you're not showing so much cuff and it'll look just fine.

I do have a (few ) tartan kilts in the works already. This black one is an inexpensive and quick shipping heavyweight from Stillwater to hold me over until Josh and Rocky have finished my others.

You look very good. As EB says, hitch up the sleeves. You can buy some sleeve holders, much easier and cheaper than altering the jacket. You could also wear a tie that takes up the colors of your hoses and flashes. To be very picky, Maybe lace up shoes.

No need to stick with solid colour ties. Stripes, dots, paislies, foulards, etc all work well.
