Do go to the Tattoo - we did it last August. It has a fantastic atmosphere and the finale march is stirring. No need to be kilted but if you do be aware the show starts at 9:00pm and you are seated so take a rug with you.
Enjoy the Show.

Re: Who's goin to Scotland this year?
I'll be visiting for 3 weeks in April - 1 of which will be on business.
Returning in 2012 for the Clan Elliot Gathering - and hopefully see the Tattoo again.
Probably return in 2013 for the big Clan Gathering and perhaps a tour of clan Donald sites.

The bakery is in St. Andrews and I can't begin to tell you how amazing it was. Besides the Scottish meat pies and pasties, they had this thing called a coffee tower that was indescribably good. I spent about $40 there and we ate in heaven all the way to Inverness!
Scotland is only 1/5 the size of Montana, but Scotland has over 3,000 castles and Montana has none.

Re: Who's goin to Scotland this year?
I'm thinking 2 weeks at the end of May. I'm 44, never been and having traced my family back to the Isle of Mull, it's time to have a looks see.
Almost every place I travel to I rent a motorcycle to see as much as I can. I think I will rent a bike out of Glasgow and spend 5-7 days on Mull and the rest of the time touring as much of the rest of Scotland as I can fit in.
