| | | The Wifes Birthday Raid
It was the wifes 50th birthday last thurs and she also had a gig to do with our very close Dan Ar Braz on the fri. So we spent her birthday travelling to La Roche Sur Yon in France .. not far from La Rochelle. Heres a few pics
It was an 8am start from home in Wales
We were soon in St Pancras International Station London waiting for the Eurostar to Paris ....
We were soon in a cab and heading through Paris to Gare Montparnasse to catch the French TGV to our desitination
Whilst we had some time to spare before our next train, we knew a nice bar where we went and Elaine opened all her birthday cards
Three hours later we were where we had to get to. The promoters of the concert put the band up in a very plush hotel

We had a free morning on the fri .. so Elaine went shopping ... doh .. anyhow as a reward for me not complaining whilst looking around shops we took to a very friendly bar on the way back to the hotel
Then we were all taken for lunch and then on to the venue for soundchecks in the afternoon. The gig was in a large sports hall and they had sold all the 1800 tickets avaiable.
Elaine in her dressing txting her best friend back home
About 7pm we were all taken for another meal
Elaine and Dan
Then it was back and get changed ready to 'go for it'
This was the scene half hour before the doors opened for the audience.
Then they went on and did a 2hr show. It was a fab gig.
The was an after show party with some local dignitories etc and we got back to the hotel at 3.30am ... we were on the train home at 10am.
Thats it .. we back home now ... next gig in 4 weeks time in Rennes France. Another friend Carlos Nunez will also be there .. he is one incredidle musician

A great set of images you have there, Derek, which tells the story of your brief trip to France perfectly. I am not so sure you should have mentioned Elaine's age however - she doesn't look anything like the figure you quoted, either in her photos or face-to-face! I doubt my card arrived in time to be among those Elaine is holding as I managed to post it only the previous day; sorry Elaine. It would appear that you both were justifiably and appropriately pampered during your stay over there, which is only right and proper.
I am so disappointed that I will not now be able to be with you both in Rennes next month - I know it will be another truly great gig for Dan and Elaine, and I'll be there in spirit.
Take care,
Ham.
