    1st Time Kilted!

Hi, I just got my band kilt about a week ago and I put it one for the 1st time two days ago. It fits ok but I have to wear it low as it is to short. But it will make do until my kilt comes in.http://s1091.photobucket.com/albums/...epguniform.jpg

I had my 1st performance today and it went great. I'm still a FNG but I'm learning. I will say I got a great feeling of pride wearing my kilt and I liked it a lot. I can't wait to wear it again at our next event.

Well done. You could, if you wanted to, wear your kilt at least an inch(if not two inches) higher.

Way to go! I agree with Jock, though. From the angle the picture is taken, it looks like you could wear it just a bit higher, unless the band has a hard & fast rule about it.

Maybe it's just the angle, but it looks to me like it's right at the top of his knee. Maybe a straight-on shot would help to clear up confusion?

remr5- There is no reason at all why you have you have to wait for the next band event to wear your kilt. It is International Tartan Week, after all. Seems to me like a good excuse to wear your kilt every day this week! (Of course, my personal excuse for wearing my kilt is the simple fact that I'm still converting oxygen into carbon dioxide. Any day above ground is a special occasion in my mind.)

Hi, yes it was a little low and I was informed by the pipe sgt. of the band. The problem is it sits in a weird spot in which, if I pull it up, it is still to low and slides down after a little movement. I think It's because it is about three inches above where my regular jeans fit. I have it snug as it is to small and if it is pulled up to the right spot it's a wee bit to high. I'm very green so it will be a learning process.

I was also told I had my flashes on inside out, which I was unaware there is a deference, but I guess so. There is a second smaller loop that I was told goes on the outside and I had them on the inside. Small things, live and learn and I will do better next time.

    Welcome to Xmarks.
Yes I think it is a bit small for you. I cannot see anything of the top of the kilt above the belt. If you get it fitting correcty at the waist by adjusting the straps at each side of the kilt without the belt, it should stay up correctly. You will then be able (or someone else will) to see how short it is.
    You look very smart though.
Since you are in actual fact getting a correctly fitting kilt at some point in the future, do not worry too much. Just wear it, all the time!
