20% off everything sale Friday 12/26 only
Okay, before everybody takes my head off, I still haunt the sales at our common nemesis (the Gold Bros) store online Heritage of Scotland, as I can find some decent deals occasionally and when they have very special, usually short lived sales, like this one. 20% off the whole store Friday 12/26 only, 17.5% off Saturday 12/27 only, and 15% Sunday 12/28 only, as part of a Boxing Day special sale.
Not that I would want that much of the tat they sell, but for things like tartan fabric you can make a pretty good steal, especially with free shipping and with the exchange rate at about 1.5 US$ for each GBP. I can get 4 meters of HOE rare and select MacDonald of Glencoe Muted double width (says so in their ad) for around $185 shipped, and since it is under $200US there is no customs regardless of how they ship it.
Again, I am very selective about what I order from them, but so far they have treated me right and come through well on each of several ordering encounters. I ordered 4m of double width 16oz rare Allen 1996 tartan several months ago on a similar sale and even though they originally said it was in stock, they discovered it was not, and went to Dalgleish mill and had 8 meters of custom woven single width 16 oz made up special for me with no extra charge, just a month or two extra wait time for delivery.
So check it out, you might find something that strikes your fancy at a good price, but remember, caveat emptor. After all it is still the Gold Bros business.

Hmm ... Hunting Robertson Weathered in 16 oz., enough for a box-pleated kilt ... thanks for the heads up - I may have to consider this.
I am easily moved for sympathy for dogs, far more so than for humans, because dogs do not understand. There is no way to explain that you will return, that the vet will make it all better, that they cannot go shooting today because that is not what today is about. They cannot work out that their misery is finite and will some time end, and so their misery is magnified.

Thanks Downix. I guess I just assumed everybody knew the web site and the Gold Bros. Thanks for picking up my slack.
