$7126.92 Kilt on e-Bay
Hi,
Happened to see this on e-Bay, item ":
170040982720
Can't imagine too many being sold though seller does say in part:
"This is an excellent, value for money kilt"
Bob
In theory there is no difference between theory and practice but in practice there is.

value for someone
Ain't no kilt worth 7G's. It is a great value for the seller! Only an idoit would give that much for something worth, at the most 1/10 of that

If this is the men's department, where are the kilts?

So I says...
"Uh.... over 3000 pounds for one kilt? Don't you think that is a bit excessive???"
Lets wait for the response.......

Here's the link: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...2720%26fvi%3D1
Must be a mistake. If ebay charges him fees, based on his listing price, he's going to be very unhappy.
Edit: I took a look at his web store. the rest of his kilts are listed at 37.99 GBP or 71.27 USD. Clearly a brain fart when placing the decimal point.

I can tell by the buckles and pic that it's a Paki Kilt (also... look at the standard 24" length and the fact he called it a "Casual Kilt" and the fact that it's shipping within 24 hours and has no hip measurements specified). I agree that it's probably a mistake in the decimal point... 38 POUNDS ($70 USD) sounds MUCH more reasonable.

This isn't one of those Neiman Marcus Christmas things?
Or something like the Victoria's Secret diamond encrusted brassiere?
Perhaps it comes with a lairdship and manor house in the Old Country?

For that price, instead of tissue paper, it should come wrapped in sheets of uncut $100 bills.

WHOOPS! I'm sure once the emails come flooding in, he'll get it corrected.

I have a sample of that exact same kilt. Judging by the result of the fabric burn test I did, it is NOT PV. It is acrylic of average quality.
There is a definite difference if you take a thread and burn it, and stretch the melted end while it is still hot.
Acrylic turns an orange-yellow color, PV turns black:
The yarn on the left is Marton PV, Asian acrylic on the right.
I suspect many of the so-called "16-oz PV" kilts are neither 16-oz or PV.
