Another Experience

My oldest came home from classes about an hour ago. He wore his kilt today, & was sitting in the cafeteria studying when a fellow student aproached him with, "Are you wearing underwear?"

"Are you?" responded Benj, apparently harsher than he meant to, as the guy seemed startled by the response. They did get into a nice conversation, though. His name is Brandon, & he was born in Aberdeen, but to American parents.

As they parted, Benj apologized if he seemed too harsh in his response.

It seems you are guarenteed to meet someone new if you go out kilted.

That's for sure. It happens to me all the time and It is good for business.

I meet the nicest people while kilted! It definetly gives a little air of authority.

I agree - you sure do meet some nice people while kilted. I wore my St. Patrick tartan to the park today, along with a forrest-green sweatshirt, yellow shirt, and forest-green hose. One woman parked her car and came over just to talk to me. She said I looked fantastic and wanted her husband to get a kilt. Another woman ran across the parking lot with her dog so she could talk to me. She was also of Irish ancestry, and we must have talked for at least 45 minutes. When she left, she remarked "keep wearing those kilts."

In 3 months, I've went from never wearing a kilt to wearing them full time. Getting ready to order my 8th - the Stewart Black tartan. I like to wear a different kilt everyday.

My wife, daughter(8 1/2 months ALREADY) and I went to Illinois to see family. well we flew into St. louis since Frontier didnt fly to Bloomington.... so we had some time before our flight home and decided to goto the St. louis zoo...I went kilted and got stopped by the Zoo Ranger.... Its a little intimidating when a man with a gun pulls up next to you and asks to talk to you for a second!! anyhow he asked why, and I said why not? then he beamed a big smile and said " Finally! someone as crazy as me to wear a kilt just because! " then he gave me (good natured) flack about wearing a Guinness T-shirt with a kilt... something along the lines of " why do you want to sully that kilt by wearing something IRISH!?!?! we had a good talk and he asked if I was going to the games the next weekend.....boy was I bummed when I found out about the games! next trip I'm gonna set it up so we can go OH by the way ....I did let him know there are alot of us out here, and gave him the website! heck maybe he's on here already! it was Sept. that we went back.


P.S. wearing a "tank" at the St. louis zoo wasnt bad....the heat got to me a little ...more the humidity it was like 80ish w/ like 70% humidity my advice? see the penguins ....often!! going from that heat to 38 F. was heaven!!

I've been kilted for only a month now. The problem is I only have one kilt at the time. I just bought a flat and I am now renovating it so it sucks all my money at the time. Cant order more kilts and what do I do when I have to wash my kilt? I have to wear trousers! Damn it! How embarassing... :o

I keep forgetting that you have to "zip up" when wearing trousers. Told my 78-year old unkle about it, and he said it's better to have a kilt available to wear each day because the next thing that happens is forgetting to "zip down" :-D

As a parent who has one son who loves the kilt, I know how good it feels!
