Another first for me
Sorry no pics (accidentally left the camera in the car), but today, on kind of a spur of the moment (after my 4 year old's dance recital) we decided to take her rollerskating (she had been once before at a birthday party, and had been asking).
So there I am, USA semi trad, nightstalker sporran, kilt hose w/matching flashes, and a pair of roller skates.
Shortly after arrival, the safety guy skates over to me and all I hear is,"You can't wear that in here."
"What?" I start.
"The baseball cap. They're not allowed on the floor."
No other comments at all. At least I didn't kill myself, since as near as I can figure, there are people who can drink that weren't even conceived the last time I was on skates.

Bet you were expecting something else than the baseball hat!

What a great turn of phrase (and I sympathize!)

I hope you had fun and stayed vertical. I was last on roller skates over a half century ago. The baseball cap thing. Some places I go to around here have started shunning the baseball cap.!?! They haven't said anything about the kilt.

We all know what you did, Tommie! We're still laughing too... You've been a very very bad boy!
That being said, I used to always be in roller skates when I was a kid. I had those blue lace-up boot style of skates, and I kind of miss skating... It's probably fun to go skating in a kilt. I would wear one of my driving caps.
I tried to ask my inner curmudgeon before posting, but he sprayed me with the garden hose…

I'll bet your pleats danced beautifully as you sped around the rink.
Take her back. Take a camera. Take pictures.

Great post! I bet your daughter had fun.
It's been about 17 years since I last laced up some roller skates. I used to skate 3 or 4 times a week when I was younger and healed faster. I'd probably have to pre-arrange an ambulance ride if I tried it now.

All I know is that if I ever decide to go roller skating while kilted, I definitely will NOT go regimental. The last time I skated, I think I spent as much time on my behind as I did on my feet. The "mystery" would soon be solved.
