Sorry, my friends, but I'm unable to keep my PC on line for more than a couple of minutes at a time. Nor are my photo resizing/cropping facilities working properly. In fact, the wholw machine seems to be on the blink.
I can think only that it is a result of the consistently and unusually high temperatures we are currently 'enjoying' in the south of England - a whole run of days with the highs in the mid nineties (ºF), and today is expected to be 2 or 3 degrees higher yet.

May not be able to post again until the temps drop - or someone fixes my PC!

Will be back ASAP.

Heat can do that. Get a can of air from a computer shop, open your computer and blast out all the dust that you can. Don't use a household vacuum cleaner - they can develop a static charge that can kill your electronics.

No need to apologize. One thing you might do is check the fan and vents on your computer for dust build up. It relies on air to keep it cool and if their clogged it'll overheat. You can use canned air to do this.

Warning- don't use a vacume cleaner, it creates static and will kill your PC.

Shoot, it was 107 degrees here in Fort Worth, Texas today ... get yourself a Texas made computer, they are 'heat hardened', sorta like the military computers are hardened against nuclear blasts. Even the keyboards are sealed against sweat dripping into the workings. You can also get one of those helmets that'll hold two beers in it ... the real nice ones have a little fan that blows thru the helmet as well. Between two cold beers and a computer that'll beat the weather you will never again be hindered from encouraging us to ....

PS Ham, really do be careful about the heat, though ... we're used to it and still native Texans die from heatstroke every year. The heat's killing me, we've got a window airconditioner suplementing or central air right now. Damn, maybe Al Gore was right.

I also experienced some of that "crazyness" on my own PC. With temperatures round here about 35-40ºC it also happens. The only way I could manage to keep the old AMD powered machine working was to leave the tower opened to allow as much heat from inside to get out... that way it seems to work, although it will get full of dust, of course... so I'll apply ur advice over here ;)

Yes, it has been in the 90s here in Dorset too.

An extra tip - If you have an ordinary fan ( the sort to keep your room cool) direct this at your PC and the extra airflow will help the cooling. Otherwise you could open a few more Windows (haha).

You probably know that I run a Macintosh computer - what else for a kilt wearer?

Although we probably get temperatures in the 90's more regularly here in Maryland, I don't think you ever get used to it. Hang in there and keep cool.

By the way, the heat index the last two days was 105!

Maybe that will help you feel a little cooler.:rolleyes:
