Archer green Inverness capes and other scottish militaria

I've bought a few items off this guy (4 to be exact.). No clothing though, all for my pipes. He must be from Ulster, cause he loves Warmac!! But really can't say a negative thing about him. Fast shipment, solid product,always better then discribed. And really good packaging. What more can you ask???

I noticed he had a couple of nice seal skin sporrans. The capes were nice, but at 6'3" with a 46" chest, they're a little on the small side for me.

They are short, but they are WARM. More English than Scottish, I'd venture to say. I always liked wearing mine when I was on leave in Victoria all those years ago. The red lining really caught the girls' eyes.

Steve McVeigh AKA "bugpiper" is indeed in Northern Ireland. I believe he's an ex-Gordon Highlander.

I've bought a few wonderful vintage things from him on Ebay over the years: a fantastic vintage sporran cantle (with celtic dragons), and a wonderful vintage crossbelt hardware set with celtic knotwork. He has at least one Edwardian/Victorian sporran up on Ebay now I think. Here's the cantle I bought from him:



My only complaint about Steve, which I've discussed with him, is his penchant for aquiring classic bagpipes and destroying their historicity by having the original surface turned down (ruining the original combing and removing the upper layer of the ivory which bears the patina) and then slapping modern silver mounts on them. This silver is crudely machine-engraved though it's claimed to be hand-engraved. I don't know how many wonderful vintage sets of pipes he has had destroyed in this fashion: there's always several on Ebay at any given time.
