Argyll Kilt?

Ok, so every tartan kilt I've ever seen has the tartan angled horizontal/vertical.
Has there ever been one with it angled diagonally, like Argyll hose for example?
I assume you would have to order/weave the tartan in square units of measurement, and then cut off the corners so that it becomes a large rectangle, and then continue the standard kiltmaking procedure.

I personally think it would look astonishing, imagine the pleating possibilities!

I'm no expert on kilts, but I doubt it. That would be putting the fabric on the bias which would probably be harder to pleat and would definitely fit differently not to mention cost a LOT more because you are only able to use a certain section of the fabric. But maybe I should defer to one of the *many* kilt making experts here...

This would look pretty cool. It would be a ton of work to make it into a kilt. You'd have to make a lot of diagonal pieces into squares.

Pleating to a line would look odd... but to the sett the front would look just like the back just one having pleats.

Um... I've read about lady's tartan skirts being cut on the bias, but never a kilt.

It would certainly look strikingly different and would match a tie and hose which go at the same angle.

The kilt would certainly have a great look (although pairing it with any matching items might be overkill).

I'm not sure it would work well, from a mechanical standpoint. Suspect that the pleats would be constantly fighting to return to vertical thread alignment, that is, they might want to hang "sideways." Or maybe not -- hard to tell until some brave soul makes a go at it!
