Hell-o all,

What has been the best response to your kilt wearing in the last 7 days?

I was at a local mall last night and heard a voice in the background loudly stating, "Dude, you got one Rockin' Kilt, love it"

I have not been kilted in public in the last seven days.

After Saturday, and a round of xmas shopping and dinner before the kilt night, I may have some material for you.

At Dickens on the Strand, one of the beer venders was an Irishman, complimented my kilt and gave me a free Guinness!

My best response lately was yesterday at a lumber yard. I use homasote board as a work surface when I'm making Tiffany style copper-foil flat panels in stained glass, and since that is also the most commonly learned method I regularly buy boards for my students.

Well, the lumber yard I go to has just had a very large number of new hires and they saw me for the first time yesterday. They all went wild over the kilt. Here was a bunch of the manliest looking guys you could imagine, many either former construction workers or contractors, and they all thought my kilt was just the greatest thing since sliced bread. I wound spending about 40 minutes more than I had to there just talking with them about kilts.

Last saturday.

As the fam. & I were walking into Wal Mart an older couple (perhaps mid 40's) were walking up behind us. The man went around us on my GF's side but his wife split away & came around my side.
As she came-up next to me she slowed down, leaning shoulder to shoulder against me & said "ooooooooh now there's my Scot".
I politely said thank you, then she hurried to catch back up to her husband.

My other half got quite the kick out of that one. And I have to admit it was kinda fun being flirted with.

Highest compliment is definately posing with a fan.Nobody has said anything really note worthy in the last few days,but,99% positive. Maybe tomorrow though.

Well, within 7 days would be last Friday. My history professor, who has been telling me all semester how much she loves the kilt, added another comment. I was late for class (on the day of our final) and ended up having to find her in her office to get the final from her.

I walk in, and she looks at her secretary (before saying anything to me) and says "See Barbara, this is my guy in the kilt here!" and grinned real big I got the test, and after finishing it up, took it back in to her office. She looked at Barbara again, and said "you know, all semester long I haven't had the guts to just reach over and pull it up yet!"

I thought I was going to have to run for the door at that point





Last Wednesday though (yes I know it's out of the 7 days, but I've only worn one twice in the past week and a half) I wore a kilt to class. There was a small group of giggling girls outside one of the buildings. I assumed they were giggling at the kilt, as I had noticed they were watching me walk up.

However, when I got to where they were, they gushed on and on about the kilt, and one asked to take a picture. They enjoyed it overall, and of course that made my day a little better.

The other night as I was walking home through the driving snow, and guy and his girlfriend were walking down the street nearby. The guy said, "Dude, you're rocking that kilt!"

Tonight, at work as I was talking to my cute co-worker, a girl came up to me and said, "I love your kilt! I'm so glad you're wearing it."

Seriously, though, I get so many good comments about the kilt that I almost stop noticing them. I commonly get people asking for pictures with them (a guy co-worker told me that he was thinking about wearing kilts because so many women talk to me about it, or ask for photos with them because of it). My policy is, if I have a camera with me they can get a photo with me if I can get a photo with them. Not a day goes by without good comments about my kilts.

Donated blood yesterday (fastest way to lose a pound and skim of cholesteral). So went to a local old west themed cowboy steakhouse and honky tonk to have a protein rich meal as reccomended.

Wearing a green and gold University of Oregon hooded sweat, basil Utilikilt, gold Blaxnit hose from Sierra Trading's deal, and Macdonald of the Isles green flashes.

When we went to check out the dancefloor in the bar part of the place the local country western band stopped playing and the bandleader, a friend, pointed out the kilt and said, "Only Ron Macdonald" etc.

They went back to playing and my lady and I were dancing to their country twang songs.

Now, our little town is a tourist town and the honky tonk was full of a busload or Japanese tourists. Once my lady and I started dancing (we were the only ones on the dance floor at first) about five couples from the Japanese tour group came out and danced with us and about a half dozen more came up to the edge of the dance floor to take pictures.

The photographers were very discreet (or sneaky) never saw a camera aimed at me but my lady said when I wasn't looking they'd shoot...fine with me. ;)
