    Bethany wants a kilt

Nor Cal Rabbler's know the petite, tiny, shy little Bethany Owen...monster Womens thrower in the Games here in Nor Cal, who came to dinner with us at Woodland. Bethany is a total sweetheart, but those adjectives, above don't quite describe her. Like, NOT!!! We are colluding on her next kilt. Here's where we stand, as of now.

Basic kilt is black...lots of pleats, adjustable in size over about 4-5 inches of waist/hip measurement (that's MY challenge, how am I gonna do this? I have some ideas)

Orange flame material in the kick pleat. LOL

...and here's the killer. She wants to embroider orange flames along the hemline of the kilt, going maybe 1/2 way up the apron and do a mess of beading on the over-apron. OK, I sew the kilt, I'll put in the kick pleat, but SHE does the embroidery!

No worries, I WILL show pics of this thing, if it comes to pass!

If all that embroidery is to be done by machine, you/she'd be better off to do the embroidery before you sew up the kilt, and especially if the bottom of the kilt is to be hemmed. I'd recommend sewing a liner over the entire embroidered apron (not just up at the waist) to protect the inside of the embroidery.
I used to work in a screen printing-embroidery shop and have learned these kinds of things the hard way.
I like the idea, and am looking forward to seeing it completed. All she'll need then are some black hose with orange flames worked into them.
    Hmmm......

Having met Bethany and having seen the extreme ease with she can hurl incredibly heavy pieces of metal with deadly accuracy I suggest that if Bethany wants a kilt then by golly you should get her a kilt!

You should also see if she wants to join XMTS

I bet our other Highland athletes would love to have her on board

    Cheers

I have vigorously promoted X Marks with the local athletes, to minimal success. *sigh*
