The problem with this is the style of kilt that it comes in.

I was also looking at a Rob Roy tartan, from the movie, at the Tartan Web, but it has the same problem.

I just like the tartan! I'd love a well made kilt in it.

I am with you on this, Graham! I love that tartan. My eye is always attracted to earthier colors. I guess that is why I like those weathered tartan kilts so much. Does anyone know why they only seem to come in pricy single width 16 oz cloth?

This morning when I walked the kids over to school, I decided I wasn't in the mood for my standard casual solid colored kilt. I instead wore my traditional 16 oz. Campbell of Argyll weathered, pairing it with a large black long sleeved "T" shirt with a big white skull on its back [a shirt I was given for my 40th birthday and which I once tried to unthinkingly wear as a night shirt until I was called to get my young 'un a drink of water in the middle of the night and scared the heck out of him].

When I got home I changed back into a casual since I had some work to do, but it felt great to get out in that earthy tartan. Not much of an occasion, I admit, but it was a great way to start the day.

Man, if I could come up with a way to make a great kilt look like it wasn't a costume, I would buy one in the Brave Heart tartan in a heartbeat.

According to Grahams link, they sell it in a modern as well as Great Kilt. Nice tartan for sure.
