Carolina on my mind - Kllted Vacation

Woo Hoo! Two more days and I知 off to Carolina for nine days. Looking forward to the July 4th weekend in Asheville. Tartan Hiker has me marching the Montreat July 4th parade, doing some mountain hiking and checking out some of the micro breweries.

Then I head to Franklin to meet Matt Newsome and visit the Scottish Tartans Museum. Afterwards, I head out for the top of Grandfathers Mountain to camp out during the largest Highland Games gathering this side of the pond. I値l be taking my recently acquired book, Highland Heritage by Celeste Ray to read during the quiet times.

Did I mention I値l be kilted for the duration? Now what kilts to pack?

Sounds like a great trip. I'm dying to get down to the STM.

All of them? You don't want to be caught out.

Make sure you try the French Broad Brewery's Wee Heavy-er, its malty goodness you can't have just one pint of. Also, Jack o' the Woods pub is very cool and very kilt friendly. As far as what kilt to wear, wear the one you don't mind sweating your guts out in (on my side of the mountains, Gatlinburg, humidity is the word). Just think of it as nature's free sauna.

Ern, any chance you'll make it by King's Mountain?
I would love to see some kilted photos from there.

    Ern,

Does that mean we're not going to meet at the Fredericksburg Pub on the 4th for a pint?

Probably just as well as I'll be in Florida visiting the Mouse.

    Have a good trip!

There is a place I haven't been to in a long, long time. I need to correct that.

Keep us informed as to what you do on the trip. I am planning such a trip and now trying to figure out what I want to see. Of course the museum is on the list as a priority. Work and life keep getting in the way so I did not make June as expected.
