    Cold Comment

Last night Marilyn and I went with her Sister and Brother-in Law to see W the movie and dinner.
While walking from the movie to the Local Lizard Mexican restaurant. One comment was I like your costume. To which I replied Thanks but it's a Kilt, mate.
His girlfriend knocked him and said You knew that.

Then when we got to the restaurant a Scottish gentleman came up to me a said how can you wear your kilt in this cold. Too which I replied heavy Wool socks and he said he would have to give it a try. My brother-in-law asked me if I get people coming up to me quite often and I said Yes and Marilyn said Kilts are a people magnet and I get a lot of business that way.

A good place to eat. Hopefully less crowded for you than when I was there during the Sundance Film Festival.

I haven't recently received the cold comment from anyone, but a chick I know still thinks I'm playing with her head when she sees me kilted on a cool day, but wearing shorts on a warm day... I've tried telling her that 9 yards of wool, wrapped around both legs, is warmer than a single layer of denim around each leg, but, she still thinks its the same as a normal s___t, where it's too breezy and cold to wear during the colder months.

I get two types of the cold question. Men not familiar with a kilt ask how cold it gets underneath. Women ask if my knees are cold.

Usually the questioner is shivering in cotton jeans and a cotton sweat shirt, and I'm wearing enough wool to knit a sheep.

I've been asked if I'm cold several times, mostly at funerals, by members of the Honor Guard.

First time I got that question it was snowing out, was down in Prescott at the Prescott Mining Company. I'd just walked in with a lady friend and a very attractive young hostess said, "Aren't you cold?" I heard myself respond, "No, I've got a heater under there." She blushed...no clue where my response came from...leaped out unfiltered...probably heard it first on this board.

I walked into the supermarket on Saturday morning just as a gentleman was coming out. He asked "aren't you cold?" to which I replied, "Yes, my hands are frozen."

    It got a laugh.

The only comments I've heard so far weren't said to me directly. They were from a team in my dart league.

"Let's see if he's wearing that in January."

Sounds to me like they might be surprised come January.

Tetley - That was a perfect response.
