Complimented on First Outing

My first real outing (other than a St. Patrick's Day party at the house) was this past weekend at the Games in Enumclaw, WA. Of course, walking around in a kilt in front of a bunch of strangers at the games was easy, but I had to stop to get gas on the way home. I went into the store to pay and the guy behind the counter looks at me and says, "I dig it." Not much of a story, but it felt nice to get that positive reinforcement.

My wife has been very understanding and thinks it looks good on me. We went together to the games on Saturday (with her mother), but I went with a friend on Sunday. She pre-approved me to get a lovat blue argyle jacket to wear in the cooler weather. Nice to have support. I need to take her out to dinner in style one of these nights.

By the way, her mother's maiden name is Robertson, so she had on a hunting Robertson sash, and her mother had an ancient Robertson sash.

Awesome! You'll (as the rabble here told me when I went through my first outtings not so long ago) find that the positive comments come much more often than the neggies. I want to get my wife a Henderson sash. She supports my kilt wearing, but I guess she doesn't think tartan is her "color."

Ah well. You should get some piccies of the argyle and share with us. Maybe when you take the Mrs. out in style

You definitely want to take you wife out for the evening while kilted. I can assure you that "footsie" under the table will take on a whole new dimension.

It is truly great to be kilted. Most of the time, people don't seem to notice, or may do a double-take. The one time people did seem to notice (well, one of the times) was in a restaurant where everyone was seated as I walked by. People smiled and giggled a little, but that was it, and it could have just as well been good-natured as ill. Most people just don't care. Most people don't notice trousers or shorts (unless there be a bonnie lass' bottom in them

) so why should people pay more than a little attention to a kilt? It's not common, so sure people will notice, but they don't care.

Feels better hearing the compliment everytime. Hearing that sort of positive, friendly compliment so soon is a boon to the self confidence and self image.
