    D.C. Dalgleish

I keep hearing about how good Lochcarron is, but unfortunately for me they do not make the tartan I am looking for. The only mill I have found that makes it is D.C. Dalgleish.

Can anyone tell me if this is a good mill or not? Thank you.

Its a good mill - have a number of hand sewn kilts made from cloth woven at their mill.

Actually, don't think there are any "bad" mills weaving tartan cloth for kilts.

D.C.Dalgliesh is amazing and fantastic. It definitely is a very excellent mill and I think you'll be very happy with the tartan they weave.

Another vote for Dalgleish here, but be advised that they only deal with the trade, retail enquiries are dealt with through Scotweb/Tartan Mill

I have two kilts made through custom runs at D.C. Dlagleish. One is medium weight the other is heavy weight. They are fantastic!

Just to clarify, if you are working with a kiltmaker here in the states, they more than likely have a trade account with Dalgliesh and can obtain your cloth. You don't have to go through Scotweb necessarily. I have a trade account with Dalgliesh, as do most reputable kiltmakers.

But to your original question, yes, they produce excellent cloth, and are actually the first choice for many kilt wearers and kilt makers (and I include myself in both camps).

    Re: D.C. Dalgleish

Great stuff. I have two kilts made from Dalgliesh material. Both are in the MacDonagh tartan. The second kilt, we had them lighten the green. One day, soon, I need to post some pics. I, also, have two kilts for my sons in the Dlagliesh, lighter shade green. The appearance of the material was not quite as good as my first kilt, but, nonetheless, a nice one.

The kilt maker on these kilts was Wally Catanach, a member here, and Wally stated that the Dalgliesh was the best material to work with. Gotta take the word of a pro!

As to what Ron stated, though, I think all the mills do a great job, it just depends on what you want. One thing on the plus side for Dalgliesh, they do a lot of special runs and rare tartans.
