    The definition of dissappointment

So there I was...on ebay...the only bidder for three days on a Black Goth kilt that was my size. I go to bed at 10pm and I am still the high bidder. I wake up at 6am, and somewhere around 0430 hrs, someone bid a dollar more then me. I almost cried all over my tactical vest. Ok, I did cry all over my tactical vest. The world is a cruel, cruel place.

Sorry you missed out, Jay. That's how it works, though. I hold my bids until the last second, too.

Same here. I always wait until the last minute before I bid on anything.

    Disappointment

I always see plenty of black kilts listed on e-bay and on show in kilt shops yet I have only once ever seen a guy wearing a black kilt (other than myself of course). Mine is a heavyweight. Better luck next time.

I bid on something at the last 5 seconds once, only to have two more bids beat me in the remaining time.

You have been screwed by sniping software....happens to us all.

One of my buddies is a big ebayer and his philosophy is to bid as much as you're willing to pay and leave it there....if you get beat, he figures, there'll be another one along eventually. When I've won auctions on cameras that I want, that's what I have done...helps, though, when there's more than one of what you're after in the mix at the same time: if you bid enough, you scare everyone off and they go over to the auction on one of the other ones. Seems like kilt auctions don't always follow this model, though.
