A different kind of jonesing

Plenty of messages here about people being desperate to get their hands on their kilt-in-the-making. I have a different kind of issue.

I'm getting married soon, and thought that this would be a nice opportunity for a brand spanking new best-quality kilt. Got measured up a few months back, and finally collected it at the weekend.

The trouble is, the big day is to be it's virgin outing, and even if it weren't, we have the deal, that this is like her dress, she can't see it until the day, so, since we live together, I can't wear it until the day.

I've packed it away in a suit hanger bag, and I'm leaving the basting in, just to add a little extra hurdle to my temptation, but it's there! I own it, I actually have it in my possession. I keep wanting to open up the bag and at least look at it.

Just thought I'd share.

Well, you should clandestinely try it on, like in the bathroom, to make sure it fits at least.

I'd take the basting out now.
A) You've got other stuff to do on The Day than painstakingly taking out each stitch.
B) Let the pleats hang free-er for a while.

It fits, I collected it from the makers, and tried it there. I'll pull out the basting (and probably put it on again) as soon as I have an hour or so without her.

Your a better man than most of us. Having it hang in the closet would be more than I could handle.

I echo the advice that others have given, you should try it on. Just as the bride tries her dress on to be sure of fit...

If it's an option, wear it work. Put it on when you get there, take it off before you leave. That's what I'd do anyway - forget waitin. She can't wear her dress everywhere but there aren't any laws (that I know of,) saying you can't go about kilted.
