A different kind of kilts night
I went to a Gothic/Industrial club the first time in 5 years last night. Nothing much had changed in the scene with the exception of Utilikilts. Including myself, there were at least 7 other guys in various form of black Utilikilts. Most of us wore the Workman Style and one of them was in a leather one. There were a couple of other guys in Lipservice's UK knock offs and 2 in tartan kilts were in attendenace as well.

Raphael,
Sounds very cool! It's neat to know there is a whole subset of kilt wearers out there. On occassion I still listen to my cds of "Floodland" by the Sisters of Mercy, "Anything" by the Damned, and various works Siouxsie and the Bashees. The kilt pin on my SWK Black Heavyweight is a metal badge from a Siousxie and the Banshees concert. Hope you had fun.
Cheers

Yes, kilts R cool with goths. My daughter from my first marriage is a goth and likes me to wear a black kilt when I meet her.

This past weekend at the Dublin Irish Festival I sold quite a few black Workmans and Originals to guys who were goths/biker types (I realize they're not the same thing, but they do have many complementary dress styles). They really couldn't get enough of them... it's the dark brusque black of the Workman with the offsetting brightly polished metal of the rivets and snaps that does it for them.
I'm not as chummy with the UK staffers as many UKitarians, so I've never had the chance to ask if that demographic was being considered when they designed the black Workman. My guess is that they designed it, and one of them looked at it and said "whoa... we gotta sell this to the Nine Inch Nails fans!"

I went to the nine inch nails concert last fall and there were more than a few workmans sightings.

If I'd been wearing them the last time I saw NIN, I'd have been wearing one, that's for sure. Of course, that was... 10-11 years ago.
