It only says "designed in Scotland"...so it's most probably not made in Scotland...not the tartan...neither the kilt.

I guess the kiltmaker will listen to a name like Pralatsingh or Rampersath.

Yes, I am inclined to agree with Robin. The label is identical, or very similar, to one I saw in an unfortunate-looking kilt hanging outside a 'tourist-trap' souvenir shop in Edinburgh a year or two ago!

I saw a kilt with that label on it once -- it was some kind of poly-blend. Not wool. It was machine sewn, and had very cheap leather straps and buckles. I got the distinct impression is was made in Asia somewhere, though the label is obviously trying to make it seem as Scottish as possible.

They are having a huge problem in Scotland now with people importing cheap "kilts" from the East and selling them to tourists as "authentic Scottish Highland kilts." Of course the Scottish kiltmakers are objecting, largely because they don't want people to get the impression that these garments are representative of actual Scottish kilts.

Confession time i have one in Black watch Tartan with that label, Its no very good but it gets covered in beer, tugged at by drunken oafs and stuffed in a bag without a second thought, I wear it at gigs when I play guitar. its no that bad to be honest

My mother gave me a kilt she bought off eBay for a song as a present a few months ago. It's a Royal Stewart and is probably of the same quality. But then, I didn't expect much when she told me that she got it for $10. It's not a great garment and I don't wear it out and about, but it is still quite comfortable and is excellent for wear while I working on stained glass.

I don't worry at all if I spill a drop of a chemical on it or if a hot ball of solder falls and singes it. Everybody needs at least one kilt that they don't mind getting dirty.
