    Dress Sgian Dubh

Gentlemen, I have for many weeks scoured the internt for a reasonably priced original regimental sgian dubh for evening wear at the next clan dinner. If anyone has a source I would love to hear from them.

It depends on what you call a reasonable price. Try googling "House of Labhran" they will have what you want but ------. The proprietor is a member here, I think.

You can try Bugpiper on ebay, check his store site as he comes up trumps on all sorts of highland goodies on a regular basis

A picture of what you call a "regimental" sgian dhu might be helpful to the relatively ignorant among us, thanks.

I queried Pooley Sword about pricing and availability, and this was the response:

    Good afternoon, Mr. Maxwell,

Thank you for contacting Pooley Sword.
The price for a Sgian Dubh & Scabbard in Presentation Box is £70.00 plus
VAT. A RRS option is available.
The current order time is 4-6 weeks from Confirmation of Order.
I hope this information helps. I will wait for your reply and proceed
    accordingly.

    With kind regards,

    Angelina Le-Flay

I currently wear a regimental style sgian dhubh for evening attire and formal occassions, from Art Pewter Scotland. It is an attractive, sturdy sgian dhubh, with a lovely imitation Cairngorm stone on top, and a silver thistle affixed to the middle of the handle. It obviously has silver mounts, black handle, and black sheath. All around, it is superb sgian dhubh at a decent price - around $150.

I'll post a photo...basically the handle is completely straight - no bends or curves.
