First of all, as I too am unemployed, I wish you luck with your job search. Second... I say it's time more people saw you kilted.

That's how it happens...one guy at a time. "Hey, I could wear one of those too!"
I remember how difficult it was to kilt up and sally forth for the first time in my little rural town. Gotta be tough where you are too. But I think you've already found any fear passes quickly once you're out and about regularly and getting compliments.

I'm gonna say this one more time: how, in this multi-cultural country, can anyone not know what a kilt is? Certainly someone might think that a kilt-ee might be a bit eccentric but, IMHO, they would have to have had their head firmly ensconced in their backside for a long, long time to not recognise it as a male garment.

Distant memory here, but isn't a solid blue kilt an approved uniform alternate for male postal carriers?
I think I remember a big spitting contest over this many years ago--late 80s/early 90s mebbe?--and the carrier won. Anybody got more on it?
Why not remind your carrier that he's eligible to wear one too?

I had once a similar situation !
I was out on vacation and I went to a party with some friends, on the occasion, I was kilted. Had a great time, people seamed curious about it, they asked to take some photos and also had a great time. Then I went back to the car, and drove back to the hotel. When I got the car parked at the entry, one of the hotel employes came in and opened my door... It was like, :-D SURPRISE :-D !!! I bet he never seen a kilted man before, and he was so embarrassed, poped his eyes and then started looking down like he is not seeing anything. I don't know what went trough his mind, I can only imagine, maybe he though I was a drag queen or a cross dresser, or something ever worse.
I simply ignored, and said said, "Dude, I had great party!".Then I passed trough the reception, where the receptionist might have a bit more culture and professionalism,he kindly greeted me, but couldn't avoid that curious eye. Went back to my room and everything was calm next day... Sure, had to be, since I wasn't kilted anymore...
These situations happens, I don't want to think myself as a missionary shouting, let's wear the kilt. But it happens when don't cope with todays standards.
Cheers everyone !

If you mean the USPS guy, you remembered wrongly. He failed to get the Utilikilt approved as a uniform option, and this couldn't have been more than 2 years ago.
