    Thumbs up eventful weekend

Sat Elva and I went to Hillsboro to see the St Paty's day parade. I saw not one other kilts, neither on the street or in the parade. I was clad in my green SWK kilt, dark green hose, black shoes and a black shirt.
Before the parade started I walked up the street to find a cup pf coffee as I was moising along a young man stoped me and asked me if he could take a picture of this "old fart" in a kilt. So he took a couple of shots with his cell phone.
Sunday I took Max to Portland to partisapate in the "stop the war on the Iraqi people" I was clad in my Scottish Freedom kilt, black hose, black shoes and a blue shirt.
There were up to 30K people spead over a two blocks of a city park. In this throng or people I saw two other kilted people, one female (a pleted skirt) and a younger man in what appeared to be a tan UK. He was moving fast through to crowd so never spoke to him of saw him again.
I got many "nice kilts" and no sour remarks so all went well.

Too bad about the dearth of kilts, Robert. We can only hope our presence will encourage others. I went to a St. Patrick's day event held in the town of Dublin, California, and only saw three other kilts in the crowd (one unidentified, an Irish National casual, and a UK.) The parade was earlier in the day, so there might have been more before. One older gent asked me where he could buy a kilt like mine (a UK original model), so I gave him a UK card and told him about the next games they're appearing at. Was out shopping earlier in the day in a busy downtown shopping/entertainment district with nary a word or sideways glance.

    Best regards,

    Jake

Sounds like a good weekend. A pity that so many others missed the occasion to enjoy the freedom of a kilt.

Piped a St. Patrick's Day party Friday night, started Saturday with piping folks into St. Patrick's Day mass at 7:30 AM, then from mass to breakfast at 8:30, piped at our town's St. Patrick's Day festival at 1:00 PM, in the Pub at 3:00, another pub at 7:00, and another party at 9:00. Got up at 5:00 AM Sunday to go to a primitive campground on the far side of the next county to wake up a group of 300 campers by piping among their tents at sunrise, got home about 9:00 AM, and collapsed in bed in a heap. My pipes and I are barely recovered.

Saw 3 other proper kilts, 1 UK, and one made of shiny green stuff like footballers shorts, worn with a Celtics jersey. I'm quite impressed with my saffron SWK's ability to hold it's pleats through such a weekend; just left it out to air dry a bit, shook it out, and hung it up; they're still sharp.

I'm afraid I had my hands rather full at the time; if anyone sends me some, I'll be sure to post them.
