    fabric "hand"--wool vs. PV

Just wondering which has a softer "hand" worsted wool or poly-viscose?

I am not wondering about making a kilt but a rather a small bag and might even prefer a cotton flannel but I do want a real tartan sett.

    Hi DWFII
The PV is a bit smoother.
Stop by the Clan MacKenzie tent at the Burns and the High Desert games in Madras.

I'll do it...thanks for the invite. I am planning on the Games in Madras.

Is the PV a bit softer too?

The PV is not itchy. Wool has so many variations, it's hard to say it the PV is softer. A fine quality wool can be as soft and smooth as butter. It just depends on what you get.

I have a PV Greatkilt, and am making one from 16oz worsted from Pendleton Mills. the wool is softer, with a more "meaty" feel.

Madras games? Clan MacKenzie ? When are the games please, and will SIFNA have a tent there as well? Or clan Wallace? PM me if you like.
God will grant his blessing still, though we call her what we will.

I haven't seen an "official" announcement but I got an email from the the High Desert Celtic society that the Highland games will be in madras...supposedly on the 2nd Saturday of August. I think Wicked Tinker (?) is the entertainment. The contact to confirm the date and place should be mugsykolb@yahoo.com

The games are August 9th, but I have not seen a registration form yet. I do know that we can camp at the fairgrounds for a $10 fee, which is a good thing.

Do you know where they are being held...in Madras, I mean? They used to be held in Redmond but I guess this is the first year for Madras.

At the Jefferson Co. Fairgrounds. And there is camping on site. That's all I know until the flyer comes out.
