Ok, I put the personnae back on & so far there's no problem. Earlier when I was experiencing the slow down it was (I think) because I was also doing some graphics heavy computing along with running many, many browser windows and gobbling up RAM, CPU cache & HD unnecessarily. Another culprit may be our cable service which is the ISP also. Occasionally it is known to be less than ideal for a day or so.

However, Now, So far so good.

I have the Buchannan Tartan on (screen) and it looks rather handsome.

I run Firefox on the home computer, I tried the Cameron tartan persona and had a hard time seeing the icons in my tool bar so I removed it for know. Anyone have a suggestion for maiking the icons standout more?

If you like AdBlock, check out NoScript. Gives you the ability to block particular websites or scripts, temporarily or permanently. With the two add-ons combined, it's quite powerful control over what you browse.

Winner of the "2006 PC World World Class Award", this tool provides extra protection to your Firefox.
It allows JavaScript, Java and other executable content to run only from trusted domains of your choice, e.g. your home-banking web site, guarding your "trust boundaries" against cross-site scripting attacks (XSS) and Clickjacking attempts, thanks to its unique ClearClick technology.
Such a preemptive approach prevents exploitation of security vulnerabilities (known and even unknown!) with no loss of functionality...
Experts do agree: Firefox is really safer with NoScript

Try "change desktop background" or "show icon options" in MAC menus

In PC windows perhaps in your control panel you'll find a utility to change from invisibility to visibility concerning the icon borders. I think it's part of the themes and display application. You may be able to change the color of the type , but that might make a major impact on your default color when you print.
That change has a way of making a big difference in the overall appearance of your monitor screen, depending sometimes on how many icons and such you'll be showing on the desktop screen.

Yup. NoScript is really good too. At work though I found that I was allowing almost every website I visited so it just wasn't practical to keep it. I've found that I'm quite conservative in my browsing and don't visit sites that use a huge amount of that type of programming. The IT guys though have it. They find that it makes web pages load faster and they're not really interested in the advertising anyway.

As I mentioned before, our IT guys are looking at Chrome as the next best thing. Our network admin has already migrated to it as it now has functionality for adblocking and noscripting and proxy. I'm holding off waiting for coloured tabs. Love my coloured tabs!

    FYI:

Another Firefox update and there's now over 60,000 personas. Two whole pages of personas popped up when searching for 'tartan'. Have fun!

Okay, so I'm technologically impaired, but I can't find where to type in what you're searching for?

There is a search box on the top right of the page, it is pretty much the same color as the page itself so it is tough to find it.
