    First day kilted at work

Tonight is my first day kilted at work. In general the response has been good , I warned them ahead of time so they were expecting it. Can't wait to see the reaction when my relief shift comes in this morning. I guess I have just thrown the whole "casual Friday " no uniform policy into a tailspin.

    That's a brave move, man.
You've got something fun to look forward to at the end of your shift, too, which is always a bonus.

PS: I don't know about you, but I think that waiting for patience seems like the only way to get it.

Way to go kilteddispatcher, going to work in a kilt is very much "putting your money where your mouth is", you are a true Braveheart!

Is this going to be an everyday thing?

It won't be an everyday thing, but I will keep it up on casual Fridays unless they make me stop. Most days we are required to wear the uniform which isn't too bad but this is soooooo much more comfortable. For the record I have been lurking here for a while and you guys have inspired my bravery. I just need to stash away enough cash for that 8 yard Maple Leaf tartan Bear Kilt that I want. Then it's the formal Bruce tartan for the clan connection ...then.....dang you guys were right this stuff is addicting.

    Glad I'm retired

I'm glad I am retired, as I would not have been able to wear even a Utilikilt work kilt to work. I worked in a chemical plant, and safety regulations prevented wearing anything other than trousers and shirts. Even the women couldn't wear anykind of un-bifurcated garments, unless they were office workers in the admin offices. I couldn't have a beard either. That's all changed now, I wear kilts whenever I want, and I have a beard also. (pics to follow when I get one of my digital cameras, working, or take some regular pics and scan them.)

People are more apt to acceptance if they are warned, especially with the follow through. Congratulations on Day One of Kilt wearing in the everyday.
