    First day of school.

    Hi all!

I just had to share. My son starts the first grade on Monday. Well, we were out buying his supplies this evening, when he announced that he would like to wear his kilt to school on the first day. I warned him that the other kids might make fun of him, and his reply was "I will just tell them that they aren't cool enough for a kilt then!"

I am proud, and nervous all at the same time.

Very cool, I hope it works out for him. Like PD says try to be there for him.

    Excellent!
I wear my kilts to pick up (by foot) my ten-year old. Our soon-to-be-born boy will be kilted from EARLY on.

I am planning on wearing mine that morning when we drop him off, so that the kids see a "grown up" in one. We'll see how it goes.

Just a thought, but have you "warned" the powers that be (i.e., teacher, principle) of your son's choice, and that you support it and expect them to do so as well?

Congratulations, and best of luck to your son. Sounds like he's got a good temperament, as well as the confidence to wear it well.

You must be feeling very proud.

Children can be cruel without realizing it. I think Tupins thought is a good one. It would be good for the teacher to be in a position to explain to the kids what a kilt is, if there was a problem.
