    Free deer hide

I was given a deer hide (or should that be skin?) this evening. The hair is still on, and it could probably be used to make a sporran. Free for the asking-- postage will be about a tenner.

While Deer hide makes a very nice leather and would be wonderful for a sporran, you will find that the hair has a tendency to shed. Thats why you don't see many deer hide items with the hair left on.

I am with Bigkahuna on his comment.. I have seen items made with hide on, and in time, the hair will shed.
