    Looking really smart!
The jacket and hose work really well with the Weathered McKenzie tartan.

Thank you ALL. This was my humble ATTEMPT, to show what could be done on the "CHEAP" Total $$$ about $225.00 ( not countig shoes, cane or Sporran) And I wanted to know if it "worked"

    Puffer,

I hate to be the dissenting voice here but this outfit doesn't quite work for me.

Let me try to explain my thoughts here.

The jacket looks nice and the color works very well with the tartan.

The military khaki hose (WPG?) work very well with the tartan.

The hose and the jacket work well together and with the tam / balmoral (which works with the tartan)

    So far so good.

Now the sporran you are wearing is a rustic styled one

It goes very well with the twisted rustic walking stick and the Laird's plaid.

All three go well with the kilt.

The problem I have with this outfit (and this is just my opinion) is...

While Group A (Jacket, hose, and cap) all go nicely with your kilt giving a bit of a military look ...

Group B (sporran, stick, and plaid) all go nicely with your kilt giving a "country gent" sort of look...

Group A and Group B don't work together for me.

For the jacket I would change the sporran for a more modern and military looking on and forgo the plaid and the handsome stick.

I know you aren't trying to make this look like a military outfit, but it obviously takes inspiration from a military outfit.

All the components are fine in and of themselves, but I think that they don't all work together.

    I hope this makes sense.

    Cheers

    Puffer,
While I think you look really good, I would have to agree with Jamie on this one is parts. The only things that really don't go IMHO is the sporran and MAYBE the lairds plaid. I would have gone with a plain brown sporran like the one that Jerry sells, and then attach a really nice Celtic pin to the front kind of in the way that they would have regimental sporran pins, or nothing at all. The stick? The stick kind sir goes very well with the outfit. A lot of officers (especially in the Irish Rgts) would have had a nice walking or "Pace" stick, also known as a swagger stick, and while they were usually plain cane with a silver embossed regimental top to them, the one you have works very nicely.
    Just my two cents.
    Cheers,
    Chad
