My mother purchased one of their Royal Stewart kilts for me as a present. She's on a fixed income so even at the price it was a big gift from her.
I wear it when I'm working in my studio and don't want to damage my real kilts. It's of a rather poor quality acrylic. When it arrived it already had pulls and needed shaving to get rid of the piles. The pleats are sewn down to the fell so it looks more skirtlike than kiltlike. It has no reverse pleat on the rightside, no fringe on the apron, and is extremely lightweight. It's great for chores around the house and stuff, but I'd never wear it out where people might see me.
This is a case where you get what you pay for. For the amount my mom paid for it, it's good. But it's not something I'd buy myself. I'd say spend just a bit more money and get a Stillwater or a USAK casual/philabeg. You'll be a lot happier with your purchase.
