Good news!
I have good news on two levels!
First...I start a new job tomorrow driving an 18-wheeler! The first little while will be interesting as I have just gotten my license for driving them and have zero experience, but it should be fun. The first little while I'll be with a driver trainer. I'm 41 years old...time for a proper career. LOL
Second...the personel officer told me today that if I want to wear a kilt on the longer trips to go right ahead! She figures I might take some heat from other drivers, but to do what I was comfortable with. Guess I need to start saving for a UK now.

Congrats. What company you pulling for? Be prepared to be gone alot and you'll become very well aquainted with fatigue. I did that for some time til my wife demanded I quit. It's a tough job but it does have it's good side.

Thanks guys! A good day indeed!
I'll be driving for NIC...Northern Industrial Carriers. Mostly western Canadian runs, not much long haul luckily. I'm sure my hours will be alot different than what I've been used to in the past though. Oh well, one of the things I love the most is driving, so this should work out ok for me.

I recently had a very good experience with Calgary-based truckers.
I got a ride all the way from the sioux to Calgary with a husband/wife team that drives to/from Toronto every week.
I couldn't believe my luck, especially since I'd been stuck in the same place for over 24 hours.
Being a trucker from Calgary gets you big points in my book

Good news indeed, you'll not only look cool but feel it behind the wheel.
I absolutely hate driving in shorts or trousers, after a kilt, it's most uncomfortable.
