Good News About Bear
Saw on the Kilt Review Board that Bear delivered a guy's saffron kilt. Was only an 8 month wait.
Is it okay to ask about Bear?
Looks like things are returning to normal.
Sorry if I broke any rules by mentioning him...

Hi Ron (if I may be so presumptuous)
Is it possible to steer me in the direction of the Kilt Review Board? I'm not familiar with it, and a Google search didn't turn anything up other than more references to it on this board.
Thanks very much.

Ron, no rules broken, as far as I can see. I hope Bear's doing well.

Ron,
I saw that too. I don't know that I would publicly assume that the wait is down to 8 months (ouch!!!), as this may have been a special case. We all know Bear is still making kilts, but that he has been dealing with personal and health issues as well.
Given the message on his site, I can only assume (I haven't spoken to Bear since last year) that he is not taking any new orders just yet, and is concentrating on being caught up.
Since a newspaper article about Bear appeared in the paper 3 years ago (Stone Cold and I both ordered after reading that one) he has been back logged, as he was just setting up the business when it really took off. We also have to remember he has almost always been a one man operation, and I am sure the idea of being 100% caught up is an appealing one for him.
So before I start assuming about the condition of Bear Kilts, I will wait until the man himself is back and word comes from his own mouth. The rest is all speculation.

I have an inside scope of that particular kilt. It was delivered under the normal 12 months wait because the customer changes his mind about the tartan a few months ago and Bear just happened to have a finished Safforn kilt in his size (with minor alterations).

It's good to see any positive news about Bear. I know a little about the problems he has had and it's good to see a valued kilt maker and member of this forum on the way back.

I sure hope to see Bear back on line at least once in a while soon. I miss his input and comments. If anyone talks to him give him my best.

8 months, hmm ... august -----April ! I should hear something from He who must not be named sometime within the next 6 months.
Since Gordon Kirkbright doesn't have the Cali colors whatever is being kilted will definetly be a surprise - I hope he didn't lose my measurements.
