Smile Got my first kilt request!

My wife and I have a friend who occasionally invites us to her house for dinner, especially when her family is going to be there. They always do a July 4th family get-together for Mongolian Barbecue which I very much enjoy.

Last Thanksgiving I decided to wear my kilt when we went over to eat with her. She loved it, and it was the talk around the table for a while. So she called my wife yesterday and invited us for the upcoming July 4th Mongolian Barbecue again... but our invitation is predicated on me wearing my kilt.

That was a good feeling. I know it's minor to a lot of you kilted veterans, but it was the first request (bordering on a demand) for me to appear kilted at a social gathering.

A Texan in a kilt eating Mongolian BBQ to celebrate the 4th of July. If that's not a melting pot, I don't know what is.

Yes, yes, the hilarity of it was not lost on me!

I'm hoping my new 8-yard wool kilt will come in before this. It would really be awesome to wear my new kilt, sporran, and some other new acquisitions. But with my luck it will be over 100 degrees and I'll be miserable. Especially since a lot of our time is spent standing around the cook-fire (which is a 55-gallon drum full of burning cedar logs with a plate welded on top for the stir-fry). It gets downright HOT. And I'll probably spill sauce all over my new duds too.

If the tartan is reddish-brown, does the spilled sauce really matter? (right away at least)
