Got my Manager's blessing to wear the Kilt

The weather is heating up and I asked my manager whether shorts would be appropiate for casual Friday. She said no. But since the female staffs can wear capris and skirts, the male staff(me) should be allowed to wear capri or kilt. Then she dare me to wear a kilt to work.

She didn't know that I have 7 kilts.

I went home after my client meetings and changed into my kilt. She was stunned and she was very much okay with the look. She doesn't mind my kilt, as long as I don't wear it for client meetings.

The reaction around the office was very positive. All the female staffs love it. No teasing occured. No one really cared what I wear on Friday, as long as I do my work and keep up the professional image from Monday to Thursday.

Now I am thinking about a pinstripe kilt. I love my work.

Well done Raphael. By the way, I too am a United fan. Born in Manchester and supported United since I was a kid.

    Thumbs up

That's great news. Who knows, maybe you'll be able to wear it full time some day.

That just shows how far the kilt is from being mainstream. Most people just can't imagine a man wearing a kilt as normal attire.

Congrats! One more small chip out of the wall of societal resistance.

But it also shows that the kilt is acceptable for work wear in a place where shorts are not.
Last week when the weather was unusually hot by British standards I had a night in a posh hotel where there was a strict no shorts allowed in the dining room rule. So I wore a kilt to breakfast with no complaint.
