Got a wonderful compliment from a Highlander today

I have a friend named Colin who emigrated here from Scotland 10 years ago. He and I have been friends for a few years now. He's a wood carver, and was helping me out on a dirk I gave as a Christmas present. I made the sheath, he made the handle for the blade. I was at his house this afternoon picking up the dirk, wearing my Nightstalker tartan kilt, black hose, and a t shirt for a local Celtic rock band. Colin said to me in his rather thick brogue "I just love the way you wear your kilt as part of everyday clothing. A lot of people do things that are strange or different because they're cocky. You just look like you're comfortable in your own skin. I wish I had the confidence to wear mine more often, like you do." Gave me warm fuzzies, especially coming from that guy, who is one like Jock- tends towards the side of tradition. Colin always looks very dapper and well turned out, regardless of what he's wearing, so it was a nice compliment.

Love this. Great day to be alive, eh?
