    It has begun

Today, I received Barbs book on sewing kilts, and gave it to my Iraqi maid. She is going to take it to the sweat shop...i mean the sewing shop and see if they can figure out the pattern and technique. I have a translator department, but it would not be fair to them for me to have them translate portions of a book for nothing more then my own pleasure. If the girls cannot figure out the kilt from Barbs drawings, I may have to give the translators some money and have them do it on their own time. I am also patiently awaiting my Haggis, and with 14 days to go until Robert Burns' Birthday, I may just be able to pull off a burns dinner in Baghdad.

Barb's book mainly says that kilts are personal, there is no one pattern. You should skim through it at least.

Pleating and overall length are variables that make it change from one to another.

The diagrams are examples, not patterns.

    Kilts madi in Iraq

First of all Jay, Thank you for your service.
It blew my mind how easy it was to get gear knocked off there. We had some packs and vests done and Haji did a pretty good job.
We strolled in and by morning we had exactly what we needed. If you have a kilt down range with you, i could say with a fair degree of certainty. They will give you a likely facsimily of a kilt Quite quickly.
Body Armor and kilts mix quite well.....
