    Here's Your Sign

How do you answer stupid questions? I usually tell people there are no stupid questions, only the unasked questions. I AM WRONG.

Oh, you are going to Austria for vacation. Are you driving?

    Here's you sign.

You wear a kilt. Do you play the banjo?

    Here's your sign.

    Any others?
Still, out, standing in my field.
Never do anything that you would not want to explain to the paramedics.

In my father's schooldays (1919-1930), in the Monadnock Region of N.H., that was a very common & very justifiable question, especially by local teachers: if you were transported by wagon into town centers to attend school every day, you needed to "brown bag it", for your midday meal; if you lived close enough to walk to school from home, you were allowed to leave to walk back home to eat during the lunch break, and then return for afternoon lessons.

We were hiring for a position at work. Several people had been interviewed that day. A fellow walks into the shop (Through the BACK door) that morning and is standing there, obviously waiting for something.

"Can I help you?" I ask.

"I'm here for my interview." He stated, flatly.

"Oh, I see, then you need to go to the front door." I said.

    "You have a front door???".....

    .....

    In New Mexico we are used to stupid questions some of the favorites;

We only ship over night to the United States. (really from Lands End).

Do you need to exchange currencey at the border?

    Do I need a Passport?

    And my personal favorite:

    Do you speak English?

New Mexico was made a territory of the United States in 1848; a State in 1912. Somehow there is a big hole between Texas and Arizona!
Rabbit, What Rabbit? I should'a turned left at Albuquerque!

My father once asked a candidate he was interviewing if he wrote legibly. They young man paused for a moment and then replied, "No, but I can write some Italian."
