HEY Kilted Clergy, you're being called!

By way of electronic handshake I greet you all with blessings.

I am a newbie to this forum but a very active and old kilted soul.

I am in preparation of launching the International Society of Kilted Clergy website (projected November 2006) and am asking for all kilted clergy to come forward and help with the project. I am looking for stories, photos and your input.

The Society will focus on the promotion of wearing and preservation of the only tartan created for an occupation. "Breacan nan Cleirach" - the Tartan of the Clergy!

The Society will also focus on bringing the Kirkin' of the Tartan to all cities across America by bringing this wonderful cerebration into Tartan Day festivities with education and marketing to all churches in America.

I appreciate your help and support in this project. Please visit the website and submit your material and be sure to sign up to receive an email when the site launches….

No Clergy here, just a Clarke. So I guess there was someone it the past that qualified. O'Neille
Cowards die many times before their deaths; the valiant never taste of death but once. Of all the wonders I yet have heard, it seems to me most strange that men should fear; seeing that death, a necessary end, will come when it will come. --William Shakespeare, Julius Caesar

I am not a pastor, but I am the Music Minister in my church. I don't know if that counts as clergy or not. I do have a Bachelor's degree in Biblical Studies. This sounds great! I'll have to check out the website

    Rev C,
I am minor clergy in the Orthodox Church ( a reader) and there are several other E.O. Clergy here as well. I will do what I can to help out.
I haven't gotten my Clarke yet, but do have a solid black SWK wool, which Prester John tells me qualifies as "modern clergy", Clarke being "Ancient"
Prester John has written an E.O. "Kirkin" service that I'm sure he'd be happy to share.
    Thanks for the heads up!

I'm the "Senior Content Creator" at Lake Pointe Church here in Rockwall,TX (which is a fancy way of saying I'm a video editor)... I graduated Moody Bible, but the degree is in Broadcast Video. Still, I like to think I'm sorta clergy. Don't have a clergy tartan yet though... So far I'm just sporting the Utilikilt at work...

    Orthodox priest here.

I currently wear the Robertson Red - wife's clan.

I know there are other clergy here, including some Orthodox priests, but I won't speak for them or blow their cover!

Thank you all so very much for the feedback. I am sure this blessing will serve everyone.

Yes, please send scripts to share for the Kirkin of the tartan. The plan is to have as much information as possible and to become the resource for everyone to turn to for the history and presentation of this great tradition.

My plan is to also have a complete list of annual events not only here in the states but around the world...

Thanks again and anything you can send now is grealty appreciated. Don't forget to sign up for email notification...

    Blessings,

    Rev. Christopher

Hello Christopher, I've ordered my first clergy tartan from USA Kilts, I'm a 'lay-preacher' (I lay around a lot) with the Church of God in Tasmania.

I shall look forward to your website coming online, great idea! I honestly don't know of any kilted clergy over here. I do know a scottish Presbyterian minister here who comes from Lewis - but he's a trouser man
