Highland games and boots...

So the Greenville, SC Highland Games are getting dangerously close...I say deangerously because I'm about to explode with excitement!!

I'm trying to talk my dad into buying a kilt when we go to the games. I think he would be more inclined to buy a kilt if he saw one in person... Now my concern is, I have no boots to wear!! I'm a large footed man, size 15 or 16, so it's hard to find boots that will fit me...any of you guys have suggestions as to where I can find some big boots for a reasonable price?

I know your pain man, I'm a size 15, and while a recently found out that I can wear 14, 14.5 or 15 depending on the brand, that still hasn't made finding shoes much easier. I wish you luck.

Those would work well, and I really like the price

But I think I need something darker. To go with my belt and sporran, they are both dark brown leather.

I found that because they were basically work boots, they went pretty well with most browns.

...at least you can email them and ask about size availablity. The logger boots look pretty good but I'd expect to pay $$$$.

Another possibility is to look on the net or in your local yellow pages for "cop supplies". Several of the military surplus joints near me seem to dabble in cop supplies as do the uniform companies...you might get lucky there.

...sportsmanguide is quite remarkable (to say the least)...I think that they once had East German Cavalry riding boots for sale...the kind that were made strictly for sitting on the horse...the soles were about cardboard thin and certainly not made for walking. I do believe, however, that they have improved their product lines since then...

Try looking at www.zappos.com for shoes. They will let you return them up to a year from purchase as long as you don't wear them outside. We use them as both my wife and I can't find shoes to fit at the PX and definately not out on the German economy. Zappos will pay for the return shipping, so you can order several to check fit and send the rest back at no cost.
