I don't know, but I'm sure at least some wore a kilt in combat during WW2, might have been non-regulation though.

My mother told me she saw several Canadian soldiers (officers?) wearing a kilt when her city was liberated in '45.

I've seen a picture of a British paratrooper (probably an officer) wearing a kilt in combat during operation Market-Garden, September '44 near Arnhem or Oosterbeek.

    Camerons...

The Camerons, although I have seen pictures of individual pipers wearing kilts in the field during the Second World War.

a paratrooper wearing a kilt??? that woudpo be one chilly ride down - but the fear it woud instill in the enemy might have been well worth it...

Hm, guess that was too easy. Remeber though, the question was which Regiment. Yes, it was the Camerons, or to use their full title The Queen's Own Cameron Highlanders. As to individuals wearing kils, no doubt many did, mostly pipers when liberating certain cities, as pointed out by Robin.

Second part: when and where was the last time the Regiment wore them in combat?

The 87th Regiment of Foot was the Royal Irish Fusiliers, later the Ulster Defence Regiment. Perhaps you're thinking of the 78th, which was the Seaforths?

The Queens Own Cameron Highlanders (the old 79th) were the last to wear the kilt into battle, as part of the BEF at Dunkirk in 1940. In 1961, the Seaforts and Camerons were amalgamated into the Queens Own Highlanders, which would be joined with the Gordons in 1994 to form The Highlanders.
