How common are kilts in Australia?

I went to the Long Beach Blues Festival (in California) on Labor Day and must have been asked 20 times if I was an Aussie! Was it just the hat? ... or are kilts more common down there than I thought?

It must have been the hat (an Akubra?) Kilts are not common here, but then, no less than anywhere else I guess.

Outside of Pipe bands and celtic events it is rare to see a kilt. In our city I am one of two men who wear kilts full time.

Wait a year or so, I'm working hard to improve those figures ;-)

Actually, it's a "Watership Trading Companie" hat, made in U.S.A.

I love this company. I normally wear an XL which always fits snug; I put their XL on and it dropped over my ears! Finally a hat company that fits for large men!

    As are we all.

I got winks, whistles and thumbs-up all day long, both days; I even had some women chase me down from across a crowd of thousands to ask me about the kilt (wink wink, nudge nudge ;)) after seeing me in a different one the second day. I think I handed out about 40 UK cards with the XMarks site on the back of them to guys asking what and where to get.
