How heavy is it???
So for those of us who are novices when it comes to the finer points of fabric....is there any way to determine the weight of a piece of cloth in a finished garment (without, of course, taking it apart, cutting out a square yard, and weighing it)?

Okay...we picked up seven yards of material...I got on the scale and weighed myself (digital) and then had my daughter hand me the whole pile of fabric...subtracted my weight from the total weight and divided by seven.
I have no idea if this is even close to a way to determine what the weight is but it seemed logical....

...but mind that this is a doublewidth piece of fabric...I'm sure that Barb or one of the Kilt Kogniscenti will have the real answer.

What kind of fabric is it?
