    I am still amazed

    Hell-o all,

I was attending my book discussion group tonight and was sitting to a gentleman who has degrees from many prestiges schools. Really a down to earth guy. He asked in all sincerity and not to belittle me in any way, "do you wear pants at all?"

Seems an odd question to ask a near stranger. Unless he's seen you only in kilts and was just curious how often you wear them. Followed up by a statement of "You really wear only kilts? I was considering a kilt but wasn't sure if they were an appropriate replacement for pants..." or some such. He could be fishing for info before taking the plunge himself. Or maybe, like me, he's a poor conversation starter and that's all he could come up with on short notice.

I prefer direct people, to those that would prevaricate ad nauseum. Sometimes people don't know what to say though, that's for sure. But is that not half the fun ?

it might be a somewhat direct way to inquire about the feasibility of wearing kilts full-time if he's playing with that idea. I recognise it as something I'd ask.

Coming from a land where "pants" are trousers, and underwear are pants...it throws a different slant on a question from a stranger

Glen, I've always said that kiltwearing is a study of human behaviour!

At all what? all meetings? all parades? all hangings? all weddings? all funerals?

Do you wear pants at all?
"Well, Sir," said the man. "At all the births I participated in, the pants were breathed by me mum.

No sir I do not...or the like. Get that question all the time. If I happen to wear pants the question is usually " hey where is the kilt?".
