    Unhappy I felt used

I posted a note that Vancouver Sun was sending a photographer to cover Kilts Night a few days ago. The photo was taken and I felt used by a local politician.

Todd Wong is a solid promoter of the Kilts Night. He would invite all walks of life to come and share a few pints with us. He applaud him for that because he is going to make us to have a strong presence at Doolin's.

Unfortunately, one of the guests was a City Council member. I don't object her for coming to the Kilts night, as she is a McDonald. I didn't mind her bringing up city politic as all because she is who she is.

I felt used because she left right after the pictures were taken. She made up some lame excuses and left. She came out to kilts night because there was a photographer there. The March Vancouver Kilts Night was just another Photo op for her. It wasn't about her, but it was about Kilts Night. now that her face is going to be on Vancouver Sun with us. I don't mind playing second fiddle to friends, but I don't like playing second fiddle to some 2 bits city politicians.

    Rant over.

If your local paper has a Readers Write like ours does (Thats published daily), than make use of it an state what you said here.
Politicians are real careful what they say in public here because the readers will eat them alive.

Use it to YOUR advantage... Ask her for help with a tartan day celebration. Ask her to help you promote wearing the kilts... More photo ops for her and it gives kilts more "media coverage"...

What Rocky said. If you felt used by her, then use her, so to speak. After all, you pay her salary.

Welcome to the world of politics....and i agree with the other posters....make use of her for future reference. Not exactly tit-for-tat, but you get the idea.

Forgive my cynicism, but she's a politician. You expected to be treated well?

I expect my politicians to treat me well. If they don't, they don't get my vote...hey, that kinda rhymed!

We've entered the silly season here Raph. We have civic elections in November and so politicians are looking for any and every opportunity. This particular politician is quite famous for showing up at opportune moments and then dashing away. Funny that when a camera is pulled out, her face is always toward the lens. At least this year we will have several genuinely kilted folks running for public office.
