I found out which kilt I have!!

Turns out it was made by Thomas Gordon & Sons Ltd. from Glasgow. THe label it kind of faded, but I think it says:

KILTS NO. 1 BLACK WATCH 0.5
    Size:- 6
    Height:- 5ft.3"-5Ft.4"
    Waist:- 32"
    Breech:-39"

    THOMAS GORDON & SONS LTD.
    GLASGOW
Again, I think that's what it says. Also, it looks like there's a stamp on it that reads either "SERIES54" or "SERI954" or something similar.

I've been looking and one recently sold on a South African bidding site for 1,999.00 Rand, or about $200. Not bad for a first kilt, eh? Especially for a teenager.

EDIT: I measured the yardage, it came to about 7.5 yards.

Good for you! Keep it up, you probably will find more of the rabble who can help you find out more about the history of "your" kilt.

I'd say that's pretty excellent for your first kilt! Congratulations on the find!

I have to ask how it is that your aunt happened to have lying around the house, especially if there's no Scottish in your family?

Her husband has some various celtic bits, mostly Irish and Scottish. I guess she had found it at a garage sale and was going to use it for costumes until she found out that I wanted one.

The tartan is really dark, and the blue is nearly invisible indoors, but otherwise it's great.
