I just ordered my first kilt today!

As the title says, I just ordered my first kilt today and I'm excited! I ordered a standard kilt from Stillwater Kilts in the MacLaren tartan. It's an off the rack kilt in PV, which I figure for a first kilt is fine. I like that Stillwater is a local company and they had it in stock. I am already dreading the weeks long wait for a woolen kilt. But as with brewing, patience makes the beer taste better.

First, and welcome to the addiction! Second, Stillwater standards are NOT PV. They are acrylic, which is quite a different beast. If you camp, you want to leave the acrylic at home because it burns- voraciously. Ask me how I know... PV is much less flammable. However, despite the risk of catching fire, Stillwater standards are great starter kilts. I actually own 2 of them. Next, you need to upgrade to one of their woolies! I have 2 of those as well, and I love them!

    So...

    Is it there yet?

All it takes is one, and then they seem to multiply. Congratulations.

As others have stated, it's going to be acrylic, not PV, but I agree that it's perfectly fine for a first kilt. It gets you in a kilt, and that's the most important thing. Then you can start buying hose, sgian dubh, shoes, kilt belt, sporran, jackets, kilt pins, bonnets, and on and on. Let the madness begin!

Thanks for the corrections. It's too late in the afternoon of a Friday for much in the way of thinking.

Congrats on the order. We'll expect pictures as proof as soon as it arrives.

Are you a homebrewer as well? I just made up a batch of brown ale this morning to tide me over until the wee heavy finishes aging...
